Reforms in the
disability employment sector
• Since the introduction of the Disability Services
Act 1986 there has been a series of ongoing reforms that continue
to impact on services that provide employment opportunities
for people with a disability.
How do we keep
up to the reforms in an ever changing environment?
Fear of the unknown can cause instability within an organisation,
and valuable time is often spent resisting change rather than
embracing change as part of continuous improvement.
• Business services in particular
must become more business focused to be able to pay award
based wages to employees.
• Not-for-profit doesn’t mean
making ‘no profit’. Organisations must aim to
be profitable to ensure their long term viability.
