An invaluable part of the BPP is to gather information
from members about questions that arise from time to time. Below
are current topics we are gathering information on. Please note
that all information gathered will be handled in confidence and
only summarised findings will be disseminated.
Benchmarking
Benchmarking provides an invaluable data
base to both the Government and service organisations. It is an
extremely useful tool to measure service performance above and beyond
current measures contained within funding service agreements.
The BPP Benchmarking Survey conducted during March
to April 2007 is the first stage of a process and will be expanded
to include further measures and a larger number of organisations.
This will enable the development of the first meaningful set of
industry benchmarks for business services across the country.

Methods of
gathering DMI Evidence
• How do you collect evidence to support your DMIs?
• How much evidence is sufficient?
• How do we collect enough DMI evidence without taking support
staff away from their other duties for too long?
Available to member organisations are sample DMI
evidence collection tools that have passed FaCSIA compliance audits.
These are a simple paper based tool that summarise client/employee
information relevant to the key areas contained in the DMI and could
be further developed into a simple Excel worksheet or Access database.
BPPEOP Project
Effectiveness is defined as ‘focussing on the right things’
as opposed to efficiency which is ‘doing them well’.
Following a presentation by Rowan McClean
from Dench McClean Carlson 8 member organisations participated in
an Organisational Effectiveness Profiling Survey. This entailed
Board Members, management and staff from all levels completing a
confidential online survey about how they thought the organisation
was performing. The overall results were good and uncovered no major
concerns. The survey was easy to complete and the reports based
on simple colour coding charts. To view the consolidated report
